Sarah Schlobohm

My name is Sarah Schlobohm. I’m a Chico local and small business owner in downtown. I believe in creating close, personal connections and value the health of our community. To me, Chico Natural Foods Co-op is a long-standing staple of our community that exemplifies and facilitates those values. I want to be a part of the CNFC Board of Directors to help the Board continue to make decisions that keep the store, the member/owners, shoppers, and the community happy and healthy. With my combined small business experience and involvement in our community, I believe I can be a valuable asset to the Board

I have served on the Board twice and currently serve on the Governance Committee as a non-board member. I also currently assist during Board meetings as the meeting facilitator. I was on the earlier Board that adopted the currently used Policy Governance structure for cooperative business. I also was the chair of the hiring committee for the successful search for our current and excellent General Manager. Although cooperative relationships are my passion, I have enjoyed developing a better understanding of the financial aspects of store operations that support the progressive and community minded goals of our co-op.

I bring seven years of community-based work to my role as Board Member. I value my experience on local and regional organic produce farms and years of team sales at the Chico Certified Farmer’s Market with local businesses GRUB CSA Farm, Pacific Culture, and Chico Chai. You may recognize me from my leadership at Butte Environmental Council and my new role as Outreach Coordinator at Chico Velo. Through the lens of local food, nonprofit management, and service on other boards, I understand the value of the Co-op and am excited to use my assets in service of its vision.
