Chico Natural Foods Cooperative now has a seat on the board of National Cooperative Grocers. Liza Tedesco, CNFC’s General Manager, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the NCG. Liza will attend meetings and lend her talents to supporting this leadership group for a three-year term.
National Co+op Grocers (NCG) is a business services cooperative for retail food co-ops located throughout the United States. NCG represents 147 food co-ops operating over 200 stores in 38 states with combined annual sales over $2 billion and over 1.3 million consumer-owners. NCG helps unify natural food co-ops in order to optimize operational and marketing resources, strengthen purchasing power, and ultimately offer more value to natural food co-op owners and shoppers everywhere. Liza’s election to the NCG’s Board gives Chico a voice at the highest level of the national cooperative movement.
The NCG’s Board of Directors is elected by designated representatives from each member cooperative. The Board is directly accountable to the membership for the activities and accomplishments of the entire NCG. Specifically, it is responsible for: interacting with members to understand their needs, values and visions for NCG, developing, monitoring and revising a body of policies that guide the CEO and board to achieve outcomes that are consistent with our members’ values and vision, and ensuring, through consistent monitoring mechanisms, that management achieves the goals set by the Board and that the Board operates according to its established processes.
Everyone at the Co-op is so proud of Liza’s initiative in running for the NCG BOD. She will be even more intimately connected to the national cooperative movement, and will be able to harness the collective energy and wisdom of the entire NCG in continuing her role as CNFC’s General Manager. Congratulations, Liza!
