IMPROVING YOUR CO-OP
As you might remember, back in February of 2020, the Co-op launched an Owner Investment Campaign to raise capital for a full-scale remodel of the Co-op. Unfortunately, February of 2020 turned out to be a catastrophically bad time to ask for long-term investments from people, so we put our capital campaign on hold. The halting of our Investment program does not mean that we have given up on improving the physical condition of the store. Far from it! In fact, we are launching a mini-remodel: a more modestly-scaled renovation that will improve many elements of the Co-op, making us a cleaner, safer, more efficient business that can offer better service to everyone in our community!
FIRST UP: FLOORS
That’s right: We’re fixing our floors! We’re going to tear out our existing, exhausted floors and replace them with sturdy new surfaces. The floor repair process will take place over two weeks and involve three main phases:
Back of Store: Over the week of June 13th - June 17th, we will entirely resurface the back of our store.
Closed: On June 21st & 22nd, the Co-op will be entirely closed as we work around the Produce case and the Front Registers.
Sales Floor: Between June 23rd - June 25th, we will work on the rest of the sales floor. The Co-op will be open, but certain items will have limited availability.
The two weeks from June 13th - June 25th will be untidy, noisy, and even a little stressful. Construction will be happening in the store during operating hours. Co-op staff will be working before we open and after we close to prepare areas of the store for the floor crews working during the day. We want to thank our shoppers in advance for their patience, as these two weeks will be a little different for all of us. But the end result is more than worth it: a safer, more beautiful Co-op for everyone to enjoy!
Keep an eye on this space, as we will reveal more about our upcoming remodel plans later this week.
