Owner Rewards Points are well-loved, relatively new benefit of Co-op ownership. We rolled the Rewards program out in late 2019, and it has been growing ever since. We’ve had Owner Rewards weekends, special multiplier weeks, and all sorts of other fun times with the points. It’s been a great, successful year and a half! We’ve also had a couple of hiccups and confusions along the way, which is why we at the Co-op are making a minor tweak to the program in order to address some problems that have arisen along the way.
Owner Rewards Points Can (usually) Only Be Redeemed by the Primary Owner
For the last decade (at least), only two named individuals have been able to be on a Co-op owner account. The primary, legal owner, and a second owner of their choice. When we initially rolled out our Owner Rewards program, we were casual about letting either person on the account redeem Owner Rewards points. We’ve learned over the last year and a half that such a hands-off approach can often lead to confusion, conflict, and unhappy Co-op owners. So we are making it official: only the Primary Owner can redeem Owner Rewards Points. However, we do allow exceptions! If you, as a primary owner, want to opt-in to allowing the other person on your account to redeem Owner Rewards points, you can! Just e-mail the Co-op Front End and let them know you’d like to make that change: frontend@chiconaturalfoods.coop .
Aside from that, the Owner Rewards Program that you have grown to know, love, and cash-in on over the last year is unchanged. We hope that this new clarity prevents any future confusion or conflict.
